Christopher MalonHi! I'm a Senior Researcher at NEC Labs America, where I develop algorithms for natural language understanding and (formerly) digital pathology. Highlights include leading systems for fact extraction and verification (Team Papelo), and the e-Pathologist system for automatic analysis of biopsy images (Japanese overview here). In 2015 I launched Group Ring, a web platform facilitating easier reading and discussion of mathematical articles, as a self-funded, self-developed startup. I was a COE Researcher (postdoc) at the Kyushu University Faculty of Mathematics in Fukuoka, Japan, in 2006-2007, where I contributed to the Infty Project for optical character recognition of mathematical documents. I also worked in Tokyo in 2009-2010 to assist development of e-Pathologist. I earned a Ph.D. in mathematics in 2005 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for a thesis in algebra, studying the p-adic Local Langlands Conjecture. My advisor was David Vogan.
